If you resell used goods, price a trade-in, or want to know what a second-hand item is worth in your city, the asking prices on Facebook Marketplace are the market. They live in a feed you can only browse by hand. Lovely Router reads the feed for you. Send a Marketplace search or category link, get one JSON object per listing, pay per listing from a prepaid balance. Call it from a script, a spreadsheet job or an AI agent with one API key.

Hand it to your AI agent

Copy this prompt into Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any coding agent. It tells the agent where the docs are and how to use your API key.

Check used and resale prices on Facebook Marketplace. Use the Lovely Router data tools: each returns JSON and is billed per result.

- Docs (read first): https://lovelyrouter.com/docs/tools/find.md and https://lovelyrouter.com/docs/tools/run.md
- Plan first: POST https://lovelyrouter.com/v1/tools/suggest with `{"task": "<my task in plain words>"}` (free). It returns the tools to run in order, each with an example `input`, the `input_required` fields, an estimated cost and a ready-made `run` request. Replace the example values with my task's; if a field is unclear, read the tool with GET https://lovelyrouter.com/v1/tools/<id>. To browse instead, POST https://lovelyrouter.com/v1/tools/discover searches the catalog.
- Show me the plan and its estimated cost (`total_est_cost_usd`) before running anything large.
- Run: POST https://lovelyrouter.com/v1/tools/<id>/run with `{"input": {...}, "max_results": N}`. A 200 has the finished run with `items`; a 202 means it is still running, so poll the `poll` path until `status` is `succeeded`, `failed`, `timed_out` or `stopped`.
- Only delivered results are billed. Keep max_results small on the first run, check the output, then scale up.
- If you support MCP, connect https://lovelyrouter.com/mcp instead (Streamable HTTP, same key; https://lovelyrouter.com/docs/tools/mcp.md) and use suggest_tools, get_tool and run_tool.
- Auth: read my API key from the LOVELY_API_KEY environment variable and send it as `Authorization: Bearer $LOVELY_API_KEY`. Never print or commit the key. If it is not set, ask me to create one at https://lovelyrouter.com/app/keys.
- Billing is prepaid: every call is charged to my balance, so test with a small request before running anything large.
- Every docs page is plain Markdown; the full index is https://lovelyrouter.com/llms.txt.

How it works

010203
  1. Search Marketplace for the item in your city, or open a category, and copy the address.

  2. Run the tool with a cap

    Send the link in urls to POST /v1/tools/facebook-marketplace/run with max_results, which sets how many listings the run reads. The run holds its maximum cost from your balance.

  3. Compute the price band

    Take the median price and the spread across listings. Rerun weekly to see whether prices drift.

02

Get Marketplace listings with one request

Search Facebook Marketplace takes Marketplace search or category links in urls. The cap is max_results on the request:

curl https://lovelyrouter.com/v1/tools/facebook-marketplace/run \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $LOVELY_API_KEY" \
  -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "input": {
      "urls": [
        "https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/nyc/search?query=bike"
      ]
    },
    "max_results": 20
  }'

The location is part of the link, so change the city segment of the address to price another market. A run still going after 60 seconds returns 202; Run a tool shows how to poll.

What each listing holds

Field groupWhat you get
ItemTitle of the listing
PriceThe asking price
LocationWhere the item is listed
PhotosListing photos

Asking prices are not sale prices. Use the median of many listings, not one, and expect some listings to be over-priced or to sit unsold.

Recipes

Price a trade-in

Search the model you are about to buy back, read 100 listings, and offer a figure from the lower quartile of asking prices.

Find items priced below the market

Compare each listing's price with the median for the same search and flag the ones far below it.

Compare cities

Run the same query with different city segments in the address and see where an item sells highest.

Source stock for resale

Run a daily search for a model you flip, store the listings, and review only the new ones.

Size a category

Count how many listings a search returns and the price spread to see whether it is worth entering.

Prefer plain words? Connect the MCP server and tell Claude Code or Cursor: "Search Facebook Marketplace for used road bikes in Chicago, read 100 listings, and give me the median asking price and the five cheapest. Set max_results to 100."

06

What you pay

You pay per listing: starting a run holds its maximum cost, the per-call fee plus the per-listing fee times max_results, and the run settles to what it returned. The rest of the hold goes back to your balance. A run that fails or times out pays only for the listings it delivered, and a run refused at the start costs nothing.

Reading 100 listings a day is billed as 100 listings a day. There is no subscription and no monthly minimum: top up from $5, and one balance pays for tools and models. The card above shows today's price; pricing lists every tool.

Frequently asked questions

?
Can I search a specific city?+

Yes. The city is part of the Marketplace link, for example the nyc segment in the example. Pass the link you copied in urls.

How many listings can one run read?+

Up to 200. Set max_results to the number you want.

Does it give the seller's contact details?+

The result holds title, price, location and photos. Nothing in this tool is a contact field.

Do I need a Facebook account?+

No. You send links and an API key.

Do I need a subscription?+

No. You add credit to a prepaid balance and each run draws it down. Nothing renews automatically.

Pricing a whole category? See e-commerce intelligence, travel and real estate data and the tool catalog.

One prepaid key for models, data and agents

No subscription. Top up, use what you need, see every charge in your logs.
