Map the hotels and restaurants of a destination from Tripadvisor
List Tripadvisor hotels, restaurants and attractions for any location as JSON, to size up a travel market or build a local guide.
You are opening a travel business, writing a city guide, pitching hotels or planning a trip for a client, and you need to know what exists in a destination. Tripadvisor has it, one page at a time. Lovely Router lists it for you. Send a location, get one JSON object per place, pay per place from a prepaid balance. Call it from a script, a spreadsheet job or an AI agent.
Hand it to your AI agent
Copy this prompt into Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any coding agent. It tells the agent where the docs are and how to use your API key.
Map the hotels and restaurants of a destination from Tripadvisor. Use the Lovely Router data tools: each returns JSON and is billed per result.
- Docs (read first): https://lovelyrouter.com/docs/tools/find.md and https://lovelyrouter.com/docs/tools/run.md
- Plan first: POST https://lovelyrouter.com/v1/tools/suggest with `{"task": "<my task in plain words>"}` (free). It returns the tools to run in order, each with an example `input`, the `input_required` fields, an estimated cost and a ready-made `run` request. Replace the example values with my task's; if a field is unclear, read the tool with GET https://lovelyrouter.com/v1/tools/<id>. To browse instead, POST https://lovelyrouter.com/v1/tools/discover searches the catalog.
- Show me the plan and its estimated cost (`total_est_cost_usd`) before running anything large.
- Run: POST https://lovelyrouter.com/v1/tools/<id>/run with `{"input": {...}, "max_results": N}`. A 200 has the finished run with `items`; a 202 means it is still running, so poll the `poll` path until `status` is `succeeded`, `failed`, `timed_out` or `stopped`.
- Only delivered results are billed. Keep max_results small on the first run, check the output, then scale up.
- If you support MCP, connect https://lovelyrouter.com/mcp instead (Streamable HTTP, same key; https://lovelyrouter.com/docs/tools/mcp.md) and use suggest_tools, get_tool and run_tool.
- Auth: read my API key from the LOVELY_API_KEY environment variable and send it as `Authorization: Bearer $LOVELY_API_KEY`. Never print or commit the key. If it is not set, ask me to create one at https://lovelyrouter.com/app/keys.
- Billing is prepaid: every call is charged to my balance, so test with a small request before running anything large.
- Every docs page is plain Markdown; the full index is https://lovelyrouter.com/llms.txt.
My task: <the inputs (links, keywords or accounts) and how many results you need>How it works
Name the location
Use a city or region, or a keyword for a certain kind of place. You can also paste Tripadvisor links instead.
Run the tool with a cap
Send the query to
POST /v1/tools/tripadvisor-places/runwithmaxItemsPerQueryin the input andmax_resultson the request. Turn hotels or restaurants on or off withincludeHotelsandincludeRestaurants.Build the list
Load the places into a sheet or database. Filter, sort and group them, or pick the places that matter and read their reviews.
List the places of a location with one request
Search Tripadvisor takes a location or keyword in query, or Tripadvisor links in startUrls. maxItemsPerQuery caps the places per query:
curl https://lovelyrouter.com/v1/tools/tripadvisor-places/run \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $LOVELY_API_KEY" \
-H "content-type: application/json" \
-d '{
"input": {
"query": "Chicago",
"maxItemsPerQuery": 5,
"includeHotels": true
},
"max_results": 5
}'A location name returns hotels, restaurants and attractions for that place. A keyword returns only the places listed directly in the search results. A run still going after 60 seconds returns 202; Run a tool shows how to poll.
What each place holds
| Field group | What you get |
|---|---|
| Hotels | Hotels in the location, when includeHotels is true |
| Restaurants | Restaurants in the location, when includeRestaurants is true |
| Attractions | Attractions in the location |
Run a small cap first to see the exact fields on each place before you build on them.
Recipes
Run a city with a cap of 100 and count hotels, restaurants and attractions to see how crowded each segment is.
Set includeRestaurants to false, run a city, and pass the hotels to your sales team.
Pull the places for a location and ask a model to group them by neighborhood or type.
Run a destination, pick a few places, and pull their reviews with tripadvisor-reviews.
Run both with the same cap and compare how many of each kind of place the lists hold.
Prefer plain words? Connect the MCP server and tell Claude Code or Cursor: "Search Tripadvisor for restaurants in Lisbon, no hotels, list the 30 places and group them by cuisine. Set max_results to 30."
Pair it with reviews and maps
A list of places is a start. Reviews and map data make it a decision:
Tripadvisor hotels, restaurants and attractions for a location.
Reviews of Tripadvisor hotels, restaurants and attractions: rating, title, text, date, trip type.
Find local businesses on Google Maps by keyword and location: name, address, phone, website, rating, review count, opening hours, coordinates.
Guest reviews of Booking.com hotels: score, likes, dislikes, traveler type, date.
tripadvisor-reviewsreads the reviews of the places you pick.google-maps-placeslists the same area from Google Maps.booking-reviewsadds guest reviews of hotels from Booking.
For more travel and property sources, see travel and real estate data.
What you pay
You pay per place: starting a run holds its maximum cost, the per-call fee plus the per-place fee times max_results, and the run settles to what it returned. The rest of the hold goes back to your balance. A run that fails or times out pays only for the places it delivered, and a run refused at the start costs nothing.
Reading 100 places is billed as 100 places. There is no subscription and no monthly minimum: top up from $5, and one balance pays for tools and models. The card above shows today's price; pricing lists every tool.
Frequently asked questions
Can I search a whole city?+
Yes. Enter a location name as query and the tool scrapes hotels, restaurants and attractions for the first matching location.
Can I leave out hotels or restaurants?+
Yes. Set includeHotels or includeRestaurants to false.
Can I start from specific pages?+
Yes. startUrls accepts search links, tourism links and links to a hotel, restaurant or attraction page.
How many places can one run return?+
maxItemsPerQuery caps the places per query, and the tool's maximum is 100 places per run.
Do I need a subscription?+
No. You add credit to a prepaid balance and each run draws it down. Failed runs pay only for the places they delivered, and nothing renews automatically.
