Research what members ask for in public Facebook groups
Read posts from public Facebook groups as JSON with text, author, reactions, comment count and date, to find unmet demand and recurring problems.
Before you build a feature or a product, you want to read how real people describe their problem, and in niche hobbies and trades that happens in Facebook groups. Nobody can scroll fifty groups every week. Lovely Router reads them for you. Send public group links, get one JSON object per post, pay per post from a prepaid balance. Call it from a script or an AI agent with one API key.
Hand it to your AI agent
Copy this prompt into Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any coding agent. It tells the agent where the docs are and how to use your API key.
Research what members ask for in public Facebook groups. Use the Lovely Router data tools: each returns JSON and is billed per result.
- Docs (read first): https://lovelyrouter.com/docs/tools/find.md and https://lovelyrouter.com/docs/tools/run.md
- Plan first: POST https://lovelyrouter.com/v1/tools/suggest with `{"task": "<my task in plain words>"}` (free). It returns the tools to run in order, each with an example `input`, the `input_required` fields, an estimated cost and a ready-made `run` request. Replace the example values with my task's; if a field is unclear, read the tool with GET https://lovelyrouter.com/v1/tools/<id>. To browse instead, POST https://lovelyrouter.com/v1/tools/discover searches the catalog.
- Show me the plan and its estimated cost (`total_est_cost_usd`) before running anything large.
- Run: POST https://lovelyrouter.com/v1/tools/<id>/run with `{"input": {...}, "max_results": N}`. A 200 has the finished run with `items`; a 202 means it is still running, so poll the `poll` path until `status` is `succeeded`, `failed`, `timed_out` or `stopped`.
- Only delivered results are billed. Keep max_results small on the first run, check the output, then scale up.
- If you support MCP, connect https://lovelyrouter.com/mcp instead (Streamable HTTP, same key; https://lovelyrouter.com/docs/tools/mcp.md) and use suggest_tools, get_tool and run_tool.
- Auth: read my API key from the LOVELY_API_KEY environment variable and send it as `Authorization: Bearer $LOVELY_API_KEY`. Never print or commit the key. If it is not set, ask me to create one at https://lovelyrouter.com/app/keys.
- Billing is prepaid: every call is charged to my balance, so test with a small request before running anything large.
- Every docs page is plain Markdown; the full index is https://lovelyrouter.com/llms.txt.

List the groups
Copy the link of each public group where your buyers talk: up to 50 groups per run.
Run the tool with a cap
Send the links in
startUrlswithresultsLimitandmax_results. The run holds its maximum cost from your balance and returns the posts as JSON.Find the patterns
Ask a model to cluster the posts by question or complaint, then count them. High reactions and comment counts show which problems many people share.
Get group posts with one request
Get Facebook group posts takes public group links in startUrls. resultsLimit is the total number of posts across all groups:
curl https://lovelyrouter.com/v1/tools/facebook-groups/run \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $LOVELY_API_KEY" \
-H "content-type: application/json" \
-d '{
"input": {
"startUrls": [
{
"url": "https://www.facebook.com/groups/874728723021553"
}
],
"resultsLimit": 3
},
"max_results": 3
}'viewOption picks the ordering (CHRONOLOGICAL, RECENT_ACTIVITY or TOP_POSTS), and onlyPostsNewerThan keeps only recent posts. Posts it filters out are never charged. A run still going after 60 seconds returns 202; Run a tool shows how to poll.
What each post holds
| Field group | What you get |
|---|---|
| Content | The text of the post |
| Author | Who posted it |
| Engagement | Reactions and the number of comments |
| Timing | The date of the post |
Group posts are written by private people. Use the text for research and aggregate it; if you contact members, you are responsible for using the data lawfully, including privacy and anti-spam rules.
Recipes
Pull the 200 top posts (viewOption set to TOP_POSTS) from five groups and ask a model to list the problems, with a count for each.
Search the groups' recent posts for people asking for the thing you plan to build. Count the asks and read the words they use.
Collect phrases from posts with many reactions and use them in landing pages and ads.
Run on a schedule with onlyPostsNewerThan set to 7 days, so each run only costs the new posts.
Sort posts by comment count; the posts with the longest threads are topics your audience wants explained.
Prefer plain words? Connect the MCP server and tell Claude Code or Cursor: "Read the 300 newest posts from the three group links in groups.txt, cluster them into the ten most common questions, and quote one post for each. Set max_results to 300."
Pair it with other community sources
Facebook groups are one place people talk. Compare with:
Posts from public Facebook groups: text, author, reactions, comments count, date.
Comments on public Facebook posts or reels by URL.
Posts from public Facebook pages (or groups): text, reactions, comments and shares counts, photos, date.
Reddit posts for a query or subreddit: title, body, score, comments count, author, date.
A Reddit thread's post and comments by URL: text, score, author, date, reply depth.
facebook-commentsreads the comment thread under a group post you want to study in depth.facebook-postsreads posts from public pages, not groups.reddit-searchfinds the same kind of questions on Reddit.reddit-commentsreads the replies in a Reddit thread.

What you pay
You pay per post: starting a run holds its maximum cost, the per-call fee plus the per-post fee times max_results, and the run settles to what it returned. The rest of the hold goes back to your balance. A run that fails or times out pays only for the posts it delivered, and a run refused at the start costs nothing.
Reading 200 posts a week is billed as 200 posts a week. There is no subscription and no monthly minimum: top up from $5, and one balance pays for tools and models. The card above shows today's price; pricing lists every tool.
Frequently asked questions
Can I read private groups?+
The tool is for public Facebook groups. Numeric group URLs work too.
How many groups can one run read?+
Up to 50 groups per run. resultsLimit is the total number of posts across all of them.
Can I get only recent posts?+
Yes. Set onlyPostsNewerThan to a date, an ISO timestamp, or a value such as 7 days. Posts it filters out are never charged.
What if the group has fewer posts than my limit?+
You pay only for the posts returned.
Do I need a subscription?+
No. You add credit to a prepaid balance and each run draws it down. Nothing renews automatically.
